Cooter Life® is a new movement celebrating the freshwater turtle (AKA Cooter) and the inland lakes, pond, and river lifestyle along with a fun play on the word Cooter with a percentage of proceeds to go towards freshwater turtle research across the country.
At Cooter.Life , we value the freshwater lifestyle (ponds, rivers, lakes, and reservoirs) and the outdoor adventures/memories that are made by so many families/friends who live, work, and play on inland waters. We are all about those lazy days fishing or cruising on boats, fishing from the banks, going to parks, golfing, camping, and spending fun times with those that are most important to you.
OUR STORY
Cooter Life was started after Hurricane Ian hit our area and turned our lives upside down. It came about on the back porch, cooking out while we were trying to deal with all the damage Ian caused to our lives. Two of our founding partners had just a few weeks before transplanted their aquarium turtle to the pond behind another partner’s home. Laughter and joking ensued as we were educated by our Chief Turtle Officer (CTO) that the official name for the freshwater turtle in our area was a Florida River Cooter!! After many fun, silly, jokes and comments continued, we decided a few weeks later that the freshwater turtles deserve just as much attention as the infamous sea turtle gets!
